Widows 8 is an operating system developed by Microsoft Corporation. It is the successor to Windows 7 and is the most recent OS by Microsoft.
Issues
When installing Office 2010 the install hangs or freezes
Solution
- Right click on the Taskbar
- Select Task Manager
- Navigate to Processes
- Select "spoolsv.exe"
- Click End Process
The filename is too long
If you have downloaded or recovered a file that has too long of a filename, Windows will not allow you to rename it. The context menu (when you right click the file) is limited to only a few selections and does not have the option to rename the file. Attempting to rename the file via the CMD prompt also yields the same error.
Solution
- Open the installed archiver program (WinRAR, 7-Zip, etc). If you don't have one, download 7-Zip.
- Navigate to the directory with the long file name using the archiver program (e.g. 7-Zip)
- Right click on the file and rename it
